Every year, EY returns to Event Lounge to organise this event to celebrate a Belgian family business that stands out for its best practices in family and corporate governance. 2024 was no exception and proved yet again to be a resounding success.

Event Lounge has hosted the Family Business Award of Excellence every year since 2018. Event Lounge and the DDMC event design agency delight in rising to the challenge of providing their distinguished guests with impeccable hospitality. The award was founded in 2014 by EY, FBN Belgium and GUBERNA, in partnership with BNP Paribas Fortis, L’Echo, De Tijd and WorxInvest. It is awarded to Belgian family businesses that stand out for their best practices in family and corporate governance, for their vision, for conveying family values, for their spirit of intergenerational entrepreneurship, as well as for their communication and social commitment.

This year, the VPK Group has been appointed as Ambassador of the “Family Business Award of Excellence®”. Chaired by Guido Vanherpe, CEO of La Lorraine Bakery Group, the jury commended the VPK Group for being an outstanding example of family entrepreneurship, both in its maturity and performance, and for offering an inspiring model for other family businesses. The two other finalists, Sioen and Ziegler, also deserve acknowledgment for their dynamism in the family business sector. The VPK Group follow in the footsteps of Decospan, last year’s winner.

The jury, made up of representatives from large Belgian family businesses and experts in the field, concluded that the VPK Group best met all the criteria specified overall.

This event will return to Event Lounge in 2025.
